Program Description
Throughout the Summer "Bridge" Session, students in this course will uncover how different places have shaped their lives and identities, as well as how we can envision a bright future in our communities. Using creative writing prompts, they will begin by exploring their personal experiences and reflections on the influence of geographical locations in their individual lives and the lives of others. Through regular "quick writes," students will craft at least one paragraph per class, developing their creative expression while reflecting on the meaning of "home" and its significance across cultures worldwide. As the culmination of their exploration, students will extend their ideas and build on their skills by envisioning the future of the places they love. Building on their previous paragraphs, students will articulate their dreams for community development and growth through a formal creative writing essay. Students will craft a formal writing piece that reflects on the pieces of their neighborhoods through the lens of an exciting futuristic adventure.
