Program Description
Everything from your robotic vacuum to Alexa to self-driving cars uses AI and Machine Learning to function. This will only increase in the future as these exciting concepts are expected to create major advancements in the fields of space, medicine, and more! In this course, students explore concepts related to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence through the lens of gaming! Students create complex competitive games (such as PONG, Platformer, and AI Monster Runner) while learning how to program game characters with AI functionality, varying difficulty levels in interactive games, and use machine learning in gameplay! Key Skills students will build in class: 1. Designing popular game styles and re-creating the classic "Telephone" game in code 2. Understanding basic machine learning and how to simulate artificial intelligence in gameplay 3. Developing more advanced gaming characters that use concepts of Artificial Intelligence to improve behavior If you are wondering what all the buzz is about, here is a primer: * Artificial Intelligence: The idea that a computer program/machine can think and learn to be able to carry out tasks in a “smart” way. * Machine Learning: This gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly told how to do so. We give the machines access to data and let them use the data to learn for themselves!
