Program Description
Chess helps develop critical thinking skills, planning ahead, and thinking before acting. Children learn to see patterns, solve problems and become more deliberate. In chess, winning and losing allows children to understand how to handle healthy competition and to learn that having an opponent is OK. We are offering Beginner and Intermediate chess at HMS on Wednesdays and Thursdays in order to satisfy the growing chess club. The classes will be taught by two instructors, National Life Master Coach James West and Natasha Kalenchits. Every class will include a lesson and supervised play.
Cancellation Policy
Standard Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. Cancellations within the 24-hour notice period may incur a fee of up to 50% of the lesson cost. Full refunds are available for cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice. In cases of emergency or illness, exceptions can be made at the discretion of the provider.
