Program Description
These classes are built around Scratch, a project of the MIT Media Lab, which is a simple yet powerful programming language developed at MIT that uses color-coded blocks that appeal to young students. Scratch is the most popular language for young programmers, with about seven million users around the world. In the Scratch Intermediate coding class, students will build on the foundational skills learned in the beginner level class to create more complex and interactive projects. They will learn advanced programming concepts and techniques that will allow them to develop more sophisticated games, animations, and interactive stories. Skills covered in the class include: * Advanced Block Usage: Students will learn how to use more advanced Scratch blocks, such as variables, lists, and custom blocks, to create more complex and reusable code. * Game Design Principles: Students will learn about game design principles such as game mechanics, level design, and player feedback, and apply them to create engaging and fun games. * Animation Techniques: Students will learn how to create animations using sprites and costumes, and how to use motion and sound blocks to bring their projects to life. * Interactive Stories: Students will learn how to create interactive stories with branching paths and multiple endings, using variables to track and change the story progression. * Advanced Game Physics: Students will learn how to use Scratch's physics engine to create games with realistic movement and interactions between objects. * Debugging and Troubleshooting: Students will learn how to debug their projects, identify and fix errors in their code, and troubleshoot common issues.
Cancellation Policy
Standard Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. Cancellations within the 24-hour notice period may incur a fee of up to 50% of the lesson cost. Full refunds are available for cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice. In cases of emergency or illness, exceptions can be made at the discretion of the provider.
