Program Description
This class builds upon the foundational skills learned in beginner classes, aiming to deepen students' understanding and strategic play. Students will delve into more advanced tactics such as pinning, skewering, and fork attacks, enhancing their ability to outmaneuver opponents. A key focus of the class is on strategic concepts such as pawn structure, piece development, and central control. Students will learn how these elements contribute to a strong position and how to capitalize on them to gain an advantage. Additionally, students will learn to recognize and defend against common checkmate patterns, further solidifying their defensive skills and overall game awareness. Through practice games, puzzles, and interactive lessons, students will hone their skills in a challenging yet supportive environment. Led by an experienced chess instructor, this class offers a blend of board demonstrations and practical interaction. Students will engage in matches against their peers under the instructor's guidance, providing valuable hands-on experience and feedback. Please ensure your child meets the prerequisites for this class, including a strong command of piece movements, understanding of check, stalemate, and basic checkmate patterns. While familiarity with castling and en passant is beneficial, it is not required. This class is ideal for students who have been introduced to tactics and chess principles but seek to enhance their application in games. Online location: Zoom
Cancellation Policy
Standard Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. Cancellations within the 24-hour notice period may incur a fee of up to 50% of the lesson cost. Full refunds are available for cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice. In cases of emergency or illness, exceptions can be made at the discretion of the provider.
