The program introduces the fundamentals of boxing and overall fitness training. Youth Boxing provides a supportive environment for our youth to grow through the values of boxing. The program provides youth access to high level coaching and mentorship. We use the core principles of the sport of boxing: discipline, focus, respect for others, self-respect, and persistence.

Program Policy: (PLEASE READ) IMPORTANT: Make sure your email address is correct on your Rec Desk Profile. All communications for the program will be sent via email. * For the safety of all participants, any outdoor programs will be canceled if lightning is present. You will be notified by email at least one hour before the program if the weather conditions are unsuitable for outdoor activities. * Please review the schedule for each program at jcrec.recdesk.com/Community/Program. Click on the specific program you're registered for, then click the "Schedule" tab to view the schedule details. * Bring your own sports equipment, such as a basketball, soccer ball, or tennis racket, labeled with your name, to the program. If you don't have the necessary gear, we will provide some for you. From sports to homework help, the Department of Recreation offers a variety of programs for Jersey City youth to support its mission of encouraging people of all ages to partake in activities to stay physically and mentally fit, relieve stress, and become further acclimated with their surrounding community by way of recreational activities. Specifically, Recreation offers an array of activities that encompass but are not limited to ice skating, aerobics, swimming, and gymnastics as well as more conventional activities such as track, basketball, baseball, and football. The Department offers after-school programs at the Jersey City YMCA and Armory and various public schools throughout the city.
