2. West Essex Rail Trail

5. Weequahic Park

FREE for kids 15 & under! Bring your fishing gear and compete for prizes. A perfect family-friendly event where young anglers can reel in their first big catch. Why go? Even if you don’t win, the reservoir’s serene setting makes for a relaxing evening by the water. 

 

2. Passaic River Kayaking Tours

2. Essex Farm

Why you’ll love it: The mix of local talent and vibrant energy makes it a great place to discover Newark’s creative scene. Each month, Newark First Fridays showcase emerging artists, makers, artisan food vendors, musicians, and uniquely talented street performersPart festival, part art market, and an inclusive platform for small businesses, the monthly events are meant to seed the scene and raise all boats. 

 

2. TreeTop Adventure Course

Built right next to the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo, the Essex County TreeTop Adventure Course is an aerial obstacle course. The Adult Courses (approx. 35ft in height) offer 30 unique challenge elements with an average run time of 1 to 1.5 hours. The Junior Courses (approx. 10ft in height) offer 15 unique challenge elements with an average run time of 30 to 45 minutes. Parents/Guardians may join their children on the Junior Course for the same fee. The Zip Line measures over a football field in length and stands at approximately 40 feet.
